Cricket in the districts is the bedrock of the game in the State, said Tamil Nadu Cricket Association President N. Srinivasan here on Saturday. He was speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Kancheepuram District Cricket Association (KDCA). Srinivasan, the chief guest, said lack of resources was a huge handicap for the districts despite possessing the talent in the earlier days. Those things have changed now in Tamil Nadu. Now apart from the potential in the districts, we have sufficient funds and the drive of the officials, he said. Looking at the packed hall, Srinivasan said: What strikes me here is the enthusiasm among everyone. The KDCA has contributed a lot, produced so many State cricketers. He released a book on KDCAs remarkable journey. Srinivasan was accompanied by TNCA Secretary K.S. Viswanathan and Joint Secretary R.I. Palani. Former India leg-spinner V.V. Kumar and former State paceman U. Prabhakara Rao also spoke. Among those felicitated were N. Gururajan, M.G. Bavanarayanan (former State cricketer), P.S. Jagannathan, S. Rajagopalan and P.N. Krishnan (president KDCA). V. Ramesh, secretary, highlighted the achievements of the KDCA.
